Retrospective/Prospective
Looking back, looking forward. The past, the present. The point where these vectors coincide is today.
Viewing my works selected for this open studio reveals me to myself as a conceptual artist all along. The juxtaposition of earlier works with current ones reveals the ever present influence of concept.
In my artistic expression much remains the same, yet a shift in perspective is evident. My desire to see the wider picture, my concern for human rights, my connection to esoteric teachings are continuing. Perhaps the shift is a more universal and less personal expression.
Today, concept holds a more conscious, more mature place in my creative process. It may initiate creativity or reveal itself through the production of a work. Creation is an alchemical process between me, the natural and man-made objects, materials, time, space, and the idea.
