DALLAS, Texas (December 13, 2012)--Haley-Henman Gallery proudly presents a group exhibition entitled Winter Palettes with Mark Lesser, Midge Lynn, Carol Nace, Esther Ritz, and Elisabeth Schalij. This exhibition will be the premiere of two accomplished artists who will be newly represented by the gallery: Midge Lynn and Carol Nace.
In 2007, Mark Lesser was the first artist to exhibit at the newly opened Haley-Henman Gallery. In his first solo show titled, Going Fast Being Still, he used a cell phone camera to capture landscapes at a rapid pace for the inspiration of his paintings. Since then, he has continued to travel the United States, slowing down slightly, to contemplate the details of line and light. His new paintings connect to realistic references infused with an emotional process of luminous fields of color.
Midge Lynn received her Master of Fine Art degree from Otis Art Institute. She is well known for her service as President of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Art Association/Gallery 825. The selected works for this exhibition reprise some of her paintings recently exhibited in 2011 at the Janette Kennedy Gallery in Dallas. Ms. Lynn’s premiere of a new work will be part of a future solo exhibition at Haley-Henman. Her paintings originate from her dreams or photographs that explore dual perceptions in the human experience.
Dreams in Japanese is Carol Nace’s new series of pastel drawings that relies on a comical sense of Japanese motifs together with the portraits of young art students. Ms. Nace studied with William Baziotes, Helen Frankenthaler, and Robert Motherwell. She holds a Master of Art degree from Columbia University and doctoral art credits from the University of Maryland.
Esther Ritz’s new works on paper entitled Landscapes from France were made during her visit there last summer. Ensconced in a thirteenth century converted grist mill, Ms. Ritz reflected on the scene overlooking a small brook with a stone bridge, masses of bright summer flowers, lovely hills and green mountains, moss covered rocks, and gravel and stone roads. The recipient of awards and honors, Ms. Ritz recently was accepted into the juried publication, Studio Visit, for work, which will be featured in her solo exhibition at Haley-Henman in May and June of 2012.
Elisabeth Schalij’s art is most often inspired by nature. The current artwork was created with a winter palette in mind, both in mood and color; bare rock formations, stormy coastal scenes, forest fires and landscapes frozen in time. Ms. Schalij is noted for her mastery of many media, particularly the use of collage in her mixed media work.
Haley-Henman Gallery is located at 2335 Hardwick Street which is the third left after crossing the Trinity River by the Commerce Street Bridge. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5 pm and by appointment.
