September 19 – October 31, 2009

Opening Reception with the Artists: Saturday
September 19, 2009, 7-10 PM

DALLAS, Texas (August 12, 2009)—Haley-Henman announces the opening of the exhibition, The Naturalists, on Saturday, September 19, 2009 with a reception for the artists from seven to ten in the evening. The exhibit will conclude on October 31, 2009 with an autumn celebration from 5-8 PM. The exhibition features the artists Sussan Afrasiabian, Sunny Jacquet, Shari Hornish, and Brenda McKinney. They embrace the natural elements in our world with a symphony of color and composition that portray their personal aesthetic. The works are indeed a feminine response to their relationship with nature’s beauty. These painters all paint in oil for that medium’s brilliancy of color. It is fascinating to see the variation of virtuosity in brush stoke and techniques that contribute to their individual perspectives.

These accomplished artists are emerging on the scene with many accolades.

Sunny Jacquet received the honorary designation of being one of the New Dallas Nine by the jurors of the D Art Slam show in 2009. Sunny’s shining star is in wonderful company with Sussan, Shari and Brenda who also have received numerous awards and prizes. Together these artists, shown in a comprehensive way, will expand our vision of nature and beauty, and give us hope for a better future.

Sussan Afrasiabian fascinates us with her transparent glowing abstract fields of colors by which we slowly discern graceful feminine forms, birds, flowers, horses, and other symbols of nature.

Sunny Jacquet draws us into the real and unreal juxtapositions of the symbolic aspects
of the pear.

Shari Hornish gives us a place inside a moment of nature where we can see the delight of a bird resting on a branch before it takes to flight. Her paintings give us that sense of wonder that is so elusive in our busy lives.

Brenda McKinney explodes the canvas with color in her hyperrealism close-ups of flowers. The magnification of her natural world gives us a sense of awe and wonderment.
