DALLAS, Texas (July 8, 2010)--Haley-Henman Gallery is pleased to announce the solo show of new paintings by Esther Ritz in the main gallery.  This is Ms. Ritz’s third exhibition with Haley-Henman, and her second solo show.  The first solo show held at The Chambers in Dallas was a great success and provided collectors an opportunity to view several periods of work by this emerging artist.  For her second solo show, Esther Ritz will premier her new paintings.

Jorge Misium will also have his premier exhibit at Haley-Henman which will be installed in the east and west galleries.  The east gallery will offer a selection of his Manifesti created for his recent exhibitions collateral to the Venice Biennial, including OPEN 12, an exhibition of outdoor sculptures and installations.  These manifesti are posters for public announcements and advertisements that are plastered on walls and the side of buildings in Italy.   The west gallery premiers Jorge Misium’s recent drawings, soundtracks, and sculptural objects, which together with the manifesti, are the precursors to upcoming installations and other interactive works.

Esther Ritz paints to express her freedom of imagination.  As she states, “Freedom of imagination is a glorious, yet terrifying thing.  To allow the full power of the unconscious to show its face is perhaps one of the greatest risks that I have experienced.”  Haley-Henman welcomes viewers to enjoy the challenge of experiencing their own freedom of imagination in Ms. Ritz’s paintings.  Receiving awards and accolades during twelve years of exhibitions, Esther Ritz’s work is prominent in corporate and private collections.

Jorge Misium’s succinct artist statement is “I draw* interactions”.  He invites the viewer to note the asterisk and to expand on their meanings of “draw” when experiencing his work.  Jorge’s installations have recently been animated in Venezia (2009), in Beijing at the National Art Museum and Mozen Art Museum (2008), in Shanghai at the Zendai MoMA (2008), and in Dallas at the Dallas Contemporary (2007).

Haley-Henman Gallery is located on the westside of downtown Dallas.  Crossing over the Trinity River by the Commerce Street bridge, 2335 Hardwick Street is on the third left.  Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5 pm.  We welcome the opportunity to open the gallery anytime for your convenience.  This exhibition will have various artist conversations, charitable benefits and other venues to enhance the experience of the exhibition.  These details will be forthcoming.  ###
