FAVORITES AND PREVIEWS, PART I

JANUARY 14 - FEBRUARY 12, 2011
OPENING RECEPTION: FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 7-9 PM

DALLAS, Texas (December 30, 2010)--Haley-Henman announces the start of the new year with a revisit of favorite artworks previously exhibited at the gallery, and a look to future exhibitions with a preview of new artworks. Each artist will exhibit two works: one favorite and one preview. The thirteen participating artists in Part I are the following: Sussan Afrasiabian, Anthony Bolton, Dorothy Clarke, Pierre Durand, Amalia Zelaya El-Masri, Gisa Elwazir, Bob Johnson, Jane Kleve, Mark Lesser, Karen Piloto, Alan Robertson, Jerry E. Smith and Jon Walz. The opening reception with the artists will be on Friday, January 14, 2011 from 7-9 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

The longest time interval between some of these selected two works will be close to three and a half years, and the smallest time interval will be within a year. For example, Mark Lesser was the first artist to inaugurate the opening of the gallery in September 2007 with Going Fast Being Still, his solo show of twenty paintings. In contrast, we are pleased to show the new preview of works by Anthony Bolton, Dorothy Clarke and Bob Johnson who recently participated in the gallery's Summer Series 10. Overall, this exhibition demonstrates the artists' passion and energy coupled with diligence and determination. Indeed for the viewer and collector, this exhibition will highlight the depth and expansion of each artist's ability and creative dimensions. This group of regional artists range from the emerging to the experienced. Some of the emerging artists have already received accolades for their work. In 2009, Jane Kleve became a semi-finalist for the Hunting Prize. And in 2010, Karen Piloto received the University of Texas at Dallas, Dean's Award for photography, and the Dallas Business Council for the Arts, First Place Award for works on paper. These emerging artists are in wonderful company with the experienced, award winning artists of Sussan Afrasiabian, Dorothy Clarke, Gisa Elwazir, and Jerry E. Smith (Hunting Prize semi-finalist 2009).

The gallery's hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to five, and by appointment. Located west of downtown Dallas, 2335 Hardwick Street is the third left after crossing the Trinity River by the Commerce Street Bridge.
