Beginnings
An exhibition of paintings, sculpture and collage by Mahy, Eliseo, and Stone

DALLAS, Texas (March 5, 2008)--Haley-Henman announced the exhibition, Beginnings , from April 5, 2008 through May 17, 2008.  The show was a visual journey of beginnings, life cycles, and rebirths that is created by the conceptual paintings of Elizabeth B. Mahy, the abstract stone sculptures of Eliseo, and the mixed media sewn collages of Joshua Stone.  A tribute to Mahy’s mentor and teacher, Richard Fox, and her student, Sterling Chambers will be given at the opening and a selection of their work will also be displayed.

Elizabeth B. Mahy’s exploration of potential beginnings uses a range of artistic media:  acrylic on canvas, mixed media installations, oil on canvas, monoprints. and photography.  Her paintings, however, are central to her visual story.   Eliseo, a noted sculptor who has contributed to many of our public art works in the Dallas metropolitan area, brings forward a dramatic life force by his abstract stone sculptures. Joshua Stone’s collage work emanates from his beginnings as a graffiti artist and is continually changing.  This exhibit will focus on his cycle of sewn mixed media collages.

The artists in this show all live in Dallas and range in age from young to old in the life cycle and they all tell a story of beginnings and renewed beginnings.

The exhibition and opening reception for the artists is free and open to the public.  The gallery is located at 2335 Hardwick Street in the new Fort Worth Avenue Development District.  It is west of downtown over the Commerce Street bridge with Hardwick Street being the third street on the left.
