A Walk In The Rain

HALEY-HENMAN presented “A Walk In The Rain” on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 through June 28, 2008. All four artists live in Dallas and represent an emerging style that is contemporary, modern and organic.

The principal artist, Sonya Shinn Edwards, will show her new, mixed media paintings on canvas. The focus of these paintings is to refresh and inspire as if one were walking in the spring rain and playing in puddles. Sonya cryptically writes messages to herself on many of her canvases, as if each canvas is a postcard being sent as a reminder of its journey, or walk in the rain. Her series of small black and white paintings on paper bring a strong element of composition to contrast with the subtle and subdued colors of her larger paintings. HALEY-HENMAN is very pleased to have Sonya as one of its preview artists who supported the opening of the gallery in September 2007.

Laura Walters Abrams’ second exhibit at HALEY-HENMAN presents five of her most recent large-scale metal sculptures. Laura continues to explore her organic, yet industrial forms. Celebrating nature, Laura utilizes recycled metal scrap to sculpt and create simplified, abstract flower forms. Inspiration for the works in this show derive from tiny, interesting samples gathered along her nature walks in early spring. A few blocks from the gallery, Haley-Henman is proudly representing Laura’s first series of large-scale metal sculptures concurrently on exhibit at the gardens of the Belmont Hotel, a few blocks from the gallery.

Joshua Stone, an exciting emerging artist, continues his presence at HALEY-HENMAN with an back-to-back exhibit of his work. For this second exhibit, he will premier “Typographic Redistribution”, a never before released collection of mixed media paintings. This collection features gritty sophistication, intense coloration, an extensive use of spray paint, and subtle female imagery.

Eliseo, a noted public sculptor, will continue to exhibit a selection of his modern stone sculptures.
