A Group Show - 9 Texas Artists Having Fun

DALLAS,Texas (December 20, 2007)--Haley-Henman presented “A Group Show”, on January 9, 2008 through February 16, 2008. The first group exhibition included works by nine Texas artists: Brad Abrams, Laura Walters Abrams, Riyad Elmasri, Bob Johnson, Fred Mauk, Summer Morgan, Karen Piloto, Alice Procter, and Julie Stephenson. The reception was held for the artists on Saturday, January 12.

Upon entering the gallery the viewer is taken into a world of complementary and opposing artwork. The glass sculptor, Brad Abrams will present his new monolithic glass sculptures. Laura Walters Abrams’ new work will feature her large-scale sculptures in welded metal. A young emerging sculptor, Riyad Elmasri presents his newest work. In the midst of the other sculptures, color, rhythm and found objects dance a complex and sonorous interplay of memory and experience in Dr. Alice Procter’s deeply hued box constructions.

The artwork that lines the wall is as diverse as the sculptors’. Working in ink, Fred Mauk captures the human form in flowing lines. Then the artwork explodes into the colored ink on canvas by Karen Piloto. Julie Stephenson’s work takes the viewer into a vivid kaleidoscope of abstraction. The photography of Bob Johnson captures the world and morphs it with digital techniques. To punctuate the show, Summer Morgan uses epoxy resin and pigments to create beautiful plains of color.
